The role of graffiti in Colombia, Argentina, Honduras, and Brazil

Colombian artists use this form of nonverbal communication to express corruption and the days when Colombia was a country full of war and people were scare of going out. Alvaro Uribe Velez could be an inspiration for the artists; he was accused for “falsos positivos”. But walls are not only full of political disagreements, cultures and races are also an inspiration. In the other hand Argentina takes graffiti to a whole new level, street art seems like an art gallery. They make the streets more colorful and happy. Horduras has a difficult situation, has become one of has become one of the world's deadliest countries with more than 87 homicides per 100,000 people - 10 times the rate considered an epidemic of violence by the World Health Organisation, and artists want to give the streets color with this form of nonverbal communication. Finally Brazilian artists are also inspired by political climate and corruption.

In conclusion, these countries share the same inspiration and try to express their opinions and thoughts with graffitis, even though it’s not legal.

Afro-Colombians

It's sad to think that there are people who feel superior to afrocolombians. As humans, we all have the same rights regardless of our race.
Many people, including me, are not aware of the situation of black people in Colombia.
- 42% of them have no jobs.
- Only 2 out of 10 young afrocolombians go to the university.
- The rate of illiteracy in black people in Colombia is greater than in the rest of the country.
- Children mortality rate is three times greater than in the rest of the population.
If there's no education, there are no jobs. Being white does not make you a better person, nor smarter, nor more important. We all have to be aware of this situation and help as much as we can. Afrocolombians, like all of us, have the right to education and to have a high quality of life. Your help, along with everyone else's can make the difference.

SAY NO TO RACISM.
